Carry Water Designs | Logo Design

The genius behind Carry Water Designs, Matt Baral, is a third-year MFA sculpture student with a focus in wood and fractal design. He creates these beautiful, one of a kind structures, based on recognizable patterns that originate in the forest, sky, ocean, flora, and fauna. Visit his website www.carrywaterdesigns.com (which we also designed) to see some of his amazing work.

The name “Carry Water Designs” comes from a saying:
before enlightenment chop wood carry water, after enlightenment, chop wood carry water.

According to Baral, “the explanation roughly reads as the fact that nothing changes in the outside world with enlightenment, only your inner experience. The work is the same, and the work, even though often mundane, is necessary.”

The symbol in the logo is an illustration of a cross section of a tree trunk that is chopped in half, representing the “chop wood” portion of the saying from which his name is derived. It also speaks to Baral’s medium of choice.
