Farm Forward | 2023-2024 Annual Report

Farm Forward works to end factory farming by changing industry practices, influencing policy, challenging misleading food claims, and building public support for a more humane and sustainable food system.

For the organization’s 2023–24 Annual Report, “Building the Will to End Factory Farming,” I created a 36-page editorial design that reflects the urgency and breadth of Farm Forward’s work. The report documents two years of advocacy spanning humanewashing investigations, bird flu and public health, policy reform, religious outreach, food-system transformation, international programs, and university partnerships.

Rather than repeating the visual approach of the previous annual report, I developed a more bold, immersive editorial system built around dramatic photography, oversized typography, strong black-and-green graphic elements, full-page section openers, media coverage, pull quotes, statistics, and layered page compositions. Powerful imagery—much of it from We Animals photographers—keeps the animals at the center while giving the report the visual weight of an investigative publication.

The design also had to accommodate very different kinds of information, from high-impact campaign results and press coverage to long-form narrative, donor lists, and financial data. A flexible grid and strong hierarchy allow those shifts in content to feel intentional while maintaining a cohesive visual voice throughout the publication.

The result is an advocacy-focused nonprofit annual report that feels less like a traditional organizational recap and more like a compelling editorial record of Farm Forward’s research, campaigns, influence, and impact.
