Manhattan Times | Logo Design

Manhattan Times is an award-winning bilingual English-Spanish community newspaper serving Northern Manhattan, including Washington Heights, Inwood, Harlem, Hamilton Heights, and Marble Hill. Its coverage focuses on the local news, politics, culture, education, businesses, and events that matter to the communities it serves.

I designed the Manhattan Times logo and newspaper masthead to create a strong, contemporary identity rooted in place. The bold typography gives the publication an authoritative editorial presence, while a stylized bridge silhouette is integrated directly into the Manhattan wordmark, creating a visual reference to the neighborhood and to the newspaper’s role in connecting Northern Manhattan’s diverse communities.

The contrast between the heavier Manhattan typography and the lighter Times creates hierarchy within the name while giving the masthead a distinctive, immediately recognizable profile. The compact horizontal structure was also designed to work effectively across both print and digital applications.

The resulting identity gives Manhattan Times a professional local-news presence while remaining closely connected to the people and neighborhoods it represents. The logo continues to function prominently as the publication’s masthead.
