WORK : BOOKS & THINGS
417 5th Ave, NYC | Murray Hill Properties | Lobby Art
Murray Hill Properties had recently renovated the lobby at 417 Fifth Avenue in New York City and wanted the finishing details to feel connected to the building’s location and history. The project included both a new entrance insignia and custom artwork for the redesigned space.
At the owner’s request, my team and I researched vintage photographs of Fifth Avenue from the 1920s and 1930s and selected images that captured the character of the neighborhood. We then colorized the archival photography using tones drawn from the new lobby palette, creating a visual connection between the building’s past and its contemporary renovation.
The finished images were produced as large-format lobby artwork, turning historical New York photography into a cohesive environmental graphic element that felt specific to the building, its location, and the newly designed interior.
