Union Square Business Partnership | Annual Report Design

The 14th Street–Union Square Business Improvement District, now known as Union Square Partnership, has long worked to support and strengthen one of New York City’s most dynamic neighborhoods through economic development, public-space improvements, community programs, and services for local businesses.

I designed the organization’s 2000, 2001, and 2002 annual reports, giving each year its own distinctly different visual direction rather than simply carrying forward a single template. Each report was designed as a printed publication with the added challenge of working within a two-color printing limitation.

That constraint became part of the creative opportunity. Through typography, photography, grids, graphic shapes, and carefully selected two-color palettes, I created three individual editorial systems that gave each report its own personality while still communicating the organization’s work and connection to the Union Square community.

The resulting publications demonstrate how thoughtful annual report and editorial design can make even limited-color print production feel expressive, engaging, and visually rich.
